Our Little Free Library was officially welcomed into our community on a summery Sunday afternoon. Balloons, refreshments and storytelling helped make the inaugural day festive. But of course, books were the main focus. We stocked the library with books for children and adults; that same morning, my husband made a trip to the used book store and returned with an armload of beautifully illustrated children’s books, including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, all in Spanish.

Many visitors to the park, whether pushing a stroller, on bicycles, walking a dog or running after children, stopped to check out the books and were delighted that they could borrow them.

Our Little Free Library is registered and its location in Sunset Woods Park will appear on the map of Little Free Libraries.

And now, drum roll …the winner of the LFL t-shirt giveaway is Grandma Kc!! Thanks to all my commenters and congrats to Kc!
What a wonderful inauguration day! I love the idea that your husband stocked it from the used book store to start with. Our library just had a 25-cent book sale that would also be a good place to start with a stock of books. Congratulations to Grandma KC!
Thanks for your lovely comments, Carol. Yes, a 25-cent book sale sounds good to me!
Belinda, The Little Library looks like it was a success! What a wonderful idea! Penny Adis Sent from my iPhone
Thanks, Penny! I’m hoping that people will make good use of it and also donate books. And possibly, an individual or group will be motivated to create another LFL.
How exciting for both of us! Your opening sounds like it was a huge success and that the idea is being really well received by the community! And I won! Now that is extra exciting! Thank you!
My pleasure, Kc!
